After 15 years as MADRE’s Executive Director, Yifat Susskind (center), is transitioning out of her role as the organization embraces a collaborative co-executive director model to be led by Lauren Dasse (left) and DeLisha Tapscott (right), key members of MADRE’s leadership team.

I’m excited to share an important update about MADRE’s next chapter.

After nearly 30 years with this extraordinary organization, I will be stepping down from my current role as Executive Director at the end of May. It has been the honor of my life to help steward MADRE’s growth and to stand alongside our partners as they’ve built powerful, feminist solutions around the world.

While transitions carry complexity, this one comes with deep pride and clarity. I know that the time is right for this change because MADRE’s next generation of leaders is ready to take the helm. I’m thrilled to share that DeLisha Tapscott, MADRE’s Chief Operating Officer, and Lauren Dasse, our Chief Strategy Officer, will lead MADRE forward as Co-Executive Directors.

DeLisha and Lauren are visionary, grounded, and deeply committed leaders who bring complementary strengths and decades of collective experience. I’ve had the privilege of leading alongside them over the past several years, and I could not be more confident in their ability to guide MADRE’s next era. I will continue to support MADRE in a strategic advisory role as President Emeritus, ensuring continuity, institutional memory, and ongoing stewardship during this chapter.

I write to you at a moment when communities around the world are facing worsening violence, environmental disasters, and acute threats to fundamental rights. These challenges make our shared work all the more essential, and they underscore the importance of strong, steady leadership rooted in collaboration and care.

As MADRE continues to deepen its foundations and sharpen its strategies for the years ahead, I’m grateful to have youas part of this community. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating and welcoming DeLisha and Lauren as they step into their new roles.

With warmth and gratitude,

Yifat Susskind
