MADRE - Global women's rights

Women at Peace Talks

As the conflict in Sudan worsens and homes become battlefields, women and girls are especially vulnerable as they face difficulty supporting their families and sexual violence by RSF fighters. Our on-the-ground partners can offer urgent life-sustaining support in times of crisis and during the peace processes they're excluded from. It's time we amplified their solutions.

We fund work to meet urgent needs in communities, enhance women's leadership and build strong local institutions.

We strengthen the skills of individuals and organizations to mobilize in communities, influence policies and sustain movements.

We mobilize our team of advocates and lawyers to train and accompany partners in shared campaigns for policy change.

We work with women leaders who protect and provide for communities facing war and disaster. Together, we build skills, strengthen local organizations, advance progressive movements, and advocate for rights.

Feminist Policy Jumpstart

We need to change the way we make policies.

With our partners, we will push forward a US foreign policy rooted in care and repair as well as advance progressive, feminist priorities and center women, girls, Black and Indigenous communities, and POC-led movements in policymaking.

Strengthening International Norms to End Gender Violence

Wider recognition of gender persecution and a practical understanding of its meaning in conflict and peacetime would be powerful tools in the hands of women’s and LGBTIQ rights activists. Our new report on Afghanistan shows how this approach can be impactful. With our grassroots partners, we are working together to raise awareness of this crime to end cycles of violence.
