Trump's Cruelty Budget

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”

- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today, Trump released his budget proposal, one that eviscerates funding for vital social services at home and abroad while bloating defense spending.

His budget slashes essential health, education, environment and foreign aid programs that sustain millions of lives. It strips away safety net programs put in place to protect the most vulnerable.

At the same time that Trump plans to obliterate domestic social services and foreign aid, his budget significantly expands US military spending. It’s a vicious cycle that spreads devastation while undercutting the resources people need to survive.

I’ve talked to you about his cruelty budget before, and how it will impact our work with women worldwide. With you standing with us, MADRE and our grassroots partners are fighting back:

  • As Trump cuts vital foreign aid funding that helps communities survive war, MADRE and our grassroots partners are providing emergency aid, safe haven and health care to women and families confronting war and disaster. Learn more.

  • As he attacks basic social services, including women’s health care, both in the US and around the world, MADRE and our grassroots partners continue to provide a wide range of vital health care to women and families around the world. Learn more.

Together with you, we join with women worldwide who are frontline resisters to heartless and dangerous US policies that violate human rights. We’re fighting to defend our futures, one community at a time. Thank you for standing with us.

In solidarity,

Yifat Susskind
