BREAKING: New shelter for families fleeing US bombs

US bombs are raining down on Iraq and Syria, and these attacks have turned deadlier than ever.

In Syria, families have little refuge — even schools have been attacked. In Iraq, there are reports of desperate families huddled together for days in basements as the bombs hammer down from above. This month, almost 1,000 civilians have been killed by US bombs in Iraq and Syria. One recent airstrike in Mosul, Iraq alone is said to have killed up to 200 civilians.

Civilian deaths in Iraq and Syria are steadily increasing under the Trump administration. And if that wasn’t horrific enough, Trump wants to roll back policies meant to limit civilian casualties. This only promises to bring more suffering and death.

Terrified families are trapped in intensifying violence with nowhere to turn. But through your support of MADRE, you have helped reach them with lifesaving care. Thank you.

When the US military offensive in Mosul began in October of last year, your support brought food, water, medical care and other aid to women and families caught in the crossfire.

And now, we’re ready to respond urgently again. As we speak, our on-the-ground partners, the Organization of Women’s Freedom in Iraq (OWFI), are in eastern Mosul preparing to open a new shelter for women and families escaping US airstrikes. There, they will receive vital safe haven and care, including food and medical aid. What's more, through our local Syrian partners, we'll continue to deliver lifesaving medical aid and reproductive health care to women and families impacted by war.

When you support MADRE and our local grassroots partners, you ensure that we are always ready to respond to emergencies. We bring aid and care quickly and reach dangerous places where few other organizations can.

Thank you for making our lifesaving work with women in Iraq, Syria and around the world possible.

When you support MADRE, you help women find hope and build just communities around the world.
