In a world where every life is equally valued, 18-year-old Michael Brown would not have been shot and killed by police. And the failure to indict his killer, to offer at least the accountability of a trial, would be unimaginable.
What happened last night is a denial of justice and human rights.
Mothers worldwide have always stood up in defense of their children and communities. Last night, Black mothers in this country were handed yet another terrible reminder: your child is in danger, as is your right to raise a child safe and protected from racist state violence.
