Rhonda Copelon, a champion of women's human rights

Our friend and long-time ally, Rhonda Copelon, the wonderful women's human rights lawyer and activist, died yesterday at the age of 65.

Rhonda was a professor of law and the co-director of the International Women's Human Rights Law Clinic at the City University of New York Law School. Through her life's work, she had a profound impact on the recognition of women's human rights in the international, regional, and US contexts. Rhonda spearheaded the legal battle to establish rape and other gender crimes as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Rhonda dedicated her life to fighting for women's human rights and social justice. She was a partner and a treasured friend. She will be missed.

Rhonda Copelon, presente!
