Imagining a World Without Violence

What would a world without violence against women and girls look like? Imagine it...

Instead of forced marriage, knowledge and education for Kenyan girls.

Instead of sexual slavery by extremist fighters, freedom and safety for women in Iraq.

Instead of recruitment as child soldiers, health and happiness for young girls in Colombia.

Instead of domestic abuse, peace in the home for women in rural Nicaragua.

It would mean that women and girls the world over would have the freedom to live healthy, happy lives.

Thanks to your support, we’re doing more than just imagining this world. Through MADRE, this is the world that you're creating every day. You're expanding our safe houses in Iraq for women fleeing violence. You're producing radio programming that reaches the remotest communities in Nicaragua with vital information on how to escape abuse. Together, we’re ensuring that violence against women doesn’t have to be a fact of life.

Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. And I wanted to thank you for helping us to do more than just imagine. Through your support, you’re helping us to create the world we all want to live in. Thank you.
