Because of you, MADRE will be able to strengthen our important work. Whether it is providing cell phones as a vital communication tool for women escaping violence in Afghanistan, helping women in Haiti access essential medical and legal services, bringing clean water to women and children in Gaza or building lasting solutions to end violence, poverty and other violations of women's human rights in countries like Colombia, Iraq, Sudan and Peru, your continued support makes MADRE's work possible.
Since we reached our goal of $90, 000, this year we will be able to -
Expand the Women's Center run by our partner organization, KOFAVIV, in Haiti. Women and girls living in the displacement camps still face the constant threat of rape. Thanks to you, we will expand our support to KOFAVIV to help women rebuild their lives through access to medical aid, legal assistance, counseling and human rights trainings, putting rape survivors on the path to becoming human rights defenders.
Provide 300 chickens for 100 Indigenous women in Guatemala through a chicken farming initiative. This project offers women the opportunity to sustainably meet their basic needs, providing a valuable source of food for their families. What's more, with technical and business training they are able to generate income to send their daughters to school and invest in their communities.
Provide clothing, bedding, toiletries and other necessities to Afghan women using the underground escape network to flee violence. Women in Afghanistan who face abuse have often had no place to turn. Through MADRE's Afghan Women's Survival Fund, we give women an escape route.
Confront Gaza's humanitarian crisis by bringing clean water to women and their families. MADRE will install new and much needed water filtration systems in schools, hospitals and homes.
Expand our international women's human rights advocacy campaigns. We amplify the voices of grassroots women, whose perspectives and expertise are often ignored by their governments and excluded from spaces of policy-making. This advocacy work has already begun to make life-saving changes in Haiti–thanks to you, we will be able to deepen and continue this work, in Haiti and elsewhere.
Grow our public education reach and share the voices of our sister organizations. MADRE provides the resources that allow you to connect with the perspectives of grassroots women leaders worldwide, through our public education materials, website, blog and more.
