Reverberating Stories of Genocide in Guatemala
The Guatemalan countryside is so beautiful with its volcanic mountains and blue skies, that it's hard to imagine that you are driving through the site of a genocide. That's how the United Nations characterized the mass killings of Indigenous Guatemalans by US-backed government forces in the early 1980's.

Women Murdered Every Day in Guatemala
Last Sunday, the Guatemalan security forces reported that eight women had been killed in the past 24 hours. Eight women. They ranged in age from 14 to 43, they lived in the capital city and hundreds of miles away, and they were all shot.

Starting International Women's Day in Guatemala City
It's early morning in Guatemala City on this 100th International Women's Day. I'm excited to head out to Barcenas, about an hour away, where we will spend the day with Sandra Gonzales and the other women of our sister organization, the Barcenas Women Workers' Committee.
