Join Indigenous Women Leaders in NYC

UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues 2017

As our rights, our communities and our climate face growing threats, Indigenous grassroots women are leading the way to vital solutions. And it has never been more urgent to listen to their solutions and propel their policy demands forward. Here are some upcoming opportunities to join MADRE and our partners and to learn about this work.

Our Way Forward: A Movement Dialogue to Defend and Advance our Rights

Indigenous Peoples across the world have gained recognition of their rights in the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, a landmark document that protects their livelihoods and resources. In the current political climate where we confront the surge to the right and new threats and violations of collective and individual rights, we are proposing a dialogue within the Indigenous women’s movement. The panel will discuss strategies to confront violations and advocate governments and policy-makers for solutions benefiting their communities. The discussion will create a platform to share strategies among Indigenous women and think collectively on the way forward.
