The human right to health is fundamental. Yet, women and girls face obstacles that prevent them from receiving the care they need.
Every day, more than 800 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. In times of conflict and crisis, hospitals are often overwhelmed, and medical care can be delayed.
MADRE and our partners know that strong communities start with healthy people. We focus on the needs of the most vulnerable: women, children, and the poor facing war and disaster. We provide urgent care and send emergency medical supplies when crisis strikes. And we meet often overlooked long-term needs for family planning, sexual and reproductive health, and maternal care.
