Visit the communities of MADRE's sister organizations on the North Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua. See the devastating impact of this year's Hurricane Felix and the innovative solutions that Indigenous Peoples are developing to confront the consequences of climate change.
TRIP OVERVIEW
- Travel to these unique autonomous communities located on the North Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua and learn about the devastating impact of Hurricane Felix and solutions that are being crafted by the Indigenous Peoples within these same communities.
- Explore organic gardens and other food-sovereignty projects in Indigenous communities on the North Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua.
- Meet with local women leaders and activists who are working to protect their communities from future climate disasters and create long-term sustainable solutions to our global environmental crisis.
TRIP DETAILS
Dates: January 5-12, 2008
Accommodations: Hotels in Managua, Waspam, and Puerto Cabezas
Estimated Cost*: $1365 per person (double-occupancy)
Cost Includes: Round-trip airfare from Managua to the North Atlantic Coast; accommodation; breakfast in Managua; meals in Waspam and Puerto Cabezas; ground transportation for all planned activities; background information; experienced guides; translation; and a memorable program including community visits, meetings with human rights activists, and cultural presentations.
*Does not include international airfare.

Because space on these trips is limited, please send us a deposit of $200 ($100 of which is non-refundable) as soon as possible to save your place, using the registration form below. Reservations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, so hurry! Delegations often fill up within a few weeks. Full payment is due on December 3, 2007, and no refunds are available after this date. If you would like MADRE to arrange your travel from New York City, please let us know when registering. If you are traveling from elsewhere, we'll let you know our flight itinerary so that you can time your arrival and departure with ours.
