Intern with MADRE

MADRE internships are a great way to gain work experience and support MADRE's work with women and families worldwide.

The deadlines for applications are generally March 15th for Summer positions, July 15th for Fall positions, and October 15th for Spring positions. We have no more open positions for Summer 2008.

Internships come with a $10/day stipend and require a minimum time commitment of 15 hours a week for at least three months. Internships take place at the MADRE office in Manhattan.

Internship positions include:

Program Intern

• Assist with Partnerships for Change projects, including program updates, proposals, reports, highlights, and profiles of organizations
• Research specific issues related to MADRE programs: Peace Building, Women's Health/Violence Against Women/Sexual Rights, Economic & Environmental Justice
• Provide support for MADRE campaigns and programs
• Provide administrative support to MADRE staff

Communications Intern

• Monitor international news reports related to MADRE program areas and partnerships
• Participate in media outreach to promote campaigns
• Help to maintain media files, including contact databases and audiovisual materials
• Provide research assistance as needed

Public Education Intern

• Organize public education files and photographs.
• Assist Public Education Coordinator in the production, editing, and mailing of MADRE materials and newsletters.
• Assist in design work for mailings, membership correspondence, events, etc.
• Research and organize various MADRE programs highlighted in our public education materials and for speaking engagements/special events.

Development Intern

• Assist development staff with research on topics related to grant proposals
• Research funding opportunities (with businesses and religious communities)
• Assist staff with written communications with funders and follow-up phone calls
• Assist with the maintenance of funder files (electronic and paper)

Human Rights Advocacy Intern

• Monitor UN debates on issues related to MADRE programs and issue areas.
• Provide research support on women's human rights, using UN reports and other resources.

Website and Membership Outreach Intern

• Manage MADRE's account and appearance on Social Networking Sites and develop strategy for future involvement on sites
• Research and implement MADRE's Book Club
• Research and implement possibilities for future online membership outreach

Helping Hands Intern

• Assist with gathering and inventorying material donations to be shipped to support our sister organizations
• Help to solicit donations by placing announcements
• Provide administrative support to MADRE staff
