Over the last several months, violence against women and families in Darfur, Sudan has escalated sharply. Thousands of people have been displaced from their homes since the beginning of October 2006. One by one, international aid agencies have pulled out of Darfur because of this violence, leaving women and their children—who make up the majority of those in the camps—in increasingly desperate situations.
But there is hope.
Zenab for Women in Development, a Sudanese women's organization, and MADRE are working directly with refugee women in Sudan and are responding to their needs through our Helping Hands campaign. Help us collect:
