MADRE is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that receives support from individual donors, foundations, community organizations, and religious communities. Since our founding in 1983, MADRE has delivered over 22 million dollars worth of support to community-based groups in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, the Balkans, Asia, and the United States.

MADRE works hard to keep our administrative costs low. We use the highest possible percentage of our donations to support our programs with women and families who are struggling to meet their immediate needs and win justice for their communities. MADRE partners with US-based medical-assistance organizations to leverage our funds, thereby receiving thousands of dollars worth of medicines and medical supplies for every dollar we spend. We rely on volunteers and donations from around the country and are always looking for ways to maximize our impact and minimize our costs.

*Note: $442,776 is the value of "in-kind" medical shipments and services donated to MADRE during the year. This category is not considered income by the Internal Revenue Service but it is a very important source of support for MADRE.
