Thank you—all of your support as for our Haitian partner Malya Villard-Appolon, and her nomination as a CNN Hero, has meant more than I can say.
At CNN’s tribute show last night, people across the world got to see the story of Malya’s work. They heard about the difference she makes each day for women and girls in Haiti. The circle of friends of Malya is wider than it’s ever been!
Congratulations to Pushpa Basnet, who was named Hero of the Year! And congratulations to all of the CNN Heroes, who were recognized for their impressive work.
Before Malya was ever named a CNN Hero, she was a hero to all of us. Malya is a hero because she transformed her own pain into healing, for herself and for thousands of other women. She is a hero because she gave each of those women the strength to survive—to find the hero in themselves.
Warmly,

Yifat Susskind
