16 Days against Gender-Based Violence
November 25 marks the start of the 16 Days against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The 16 days last until Human Rights Day on December 10. This campaign honors the indispensable work of activists worldwide to end gender-based violence.MADRE is part of the movement to end gender-based violence. In Haiti, we partner with KOFAVIV to combat an epidemic of rape in displacement camps. In Guatemala, where 5,000 women and girls have been raped and murdered in the past decade, MADRE and the Women Workers Committee demand women’s human rights and protection from violence. In Afghanistan, MADRE supports shelters to bring women escaping violence to safety.
