NYC: Rally and March to Support the Haitian People- January 12th
Posted on: Wednesday, January 5, 2011
Below is a message from our friends at Diaspora. MADRE is a co-sponsor of this rally and march to show support for the people of Haiti.
As we enter this new year, we are reminded of the painful and tragic earthquake that struck Haiti almost one year ago to-date. During that time it has struggled with a cholera epidemic with no end in sight, an increasing number of homeless families, and horrible water and sanitation conditions.
Come show your support for the people of Haiti, raise your voice with us and march!
START: Times Square | 42nd & 7th Ave.
STOP: HAITIAN CONSULATE | 39th & Madison
FINISH: UNITED NATIONS | 47th & First Ave.
JANUARY 12TH | 1:30PM-5PM
Along with our esteemed partner organizations, we have several scheduled speakers invited, including:
Rev. Al Sharpton
NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg
NYC Police Commissioner, Raymond Kelly
Rev. Jacques Andre DeGraff
NYC Comptroller, John Liu
Participants and Marchers are asked to wear Blue and Red and to dress warmly. Signs will be provided but additional creativity and support is encouraged!
