Job Opening: Senior Grant Writer

MADRE seeks a Senior Grant Writer to secure funding from private, public, national, international and bi-lateral institutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategize and write funding proposals
  • Research prospective funders
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, senior leadership and key staff to implement organizational fundraising strategy
  • Cultivate new funding sources
  • Ability to formulate budgets, analyze financial reports and tax documents such as the IRS 990
  • Special projects related to fundraising, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success procuring grants from foundations, corporations, and religious and community organizations
  • Attention to details and deadlines
  • Ability to act independently
  • Ability to engage diverse groups, individual donors, foundation representatives, artists and others who are important to MADRE’s mission
  • Commitment to women’s rights and knowledge of the human rights framework
  • Knowledge of and commitment to MADRE’s vision and programs
  • Familiarity with MADRE’s networks and funders
  • Ability to represent MADRE and communicate effectively and sensitively with major donors and other funders
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills
  • Database management skills and professional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to manage many distinct areas of work at once
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Spanish helpful but not required
Start Date: Immediately

Location: New York, NY

Compensation and Benefits: Commensurate with experience
