Keywords: Meet Yifat

Vivian and YifatI have great news to share with you.  As you may know, after twenty years as Executive Director, I am ready to transition out of this role, though I will remain deeply involved as MADRE’s Senior Advisor.

I couldn’t be more thrilled to tell you that Yifat Susskind, who has been part of the MADRE family for fourteen years, has been chosen by the Board to become our next Executive Director.

For years, Yifat has worked with me to build life-saving programs for women and families in more than a dozen countries.  Since the 1990s, Yifat has written all of our publications, putting MADRE on the map as an organization that offers a critical feminist perspective on global issues we all care so much about.

Yifat truly “gets” MADRE.  She understands that, despite the crucial humanitarian work we do, MADRE is ultimately not a charity: it’s a vehicle for changing the world one community at a time. She already has longstanding relationships with many of the women of our sister organizations and is recognized as a leader in social movements where we work.

I am so proud of being part of MADRE, and I’m so happy to pass the leadership of MADRE to Yifat, who I trust implicitly and respect immensely.  I hope you’ll join me in welcoming her as our new Executive Director.

    Thank you.

Vivian Stromberg
