Sister Salons for Guatemala

A Project of MADRE & La Belle Vie Salon: Because Every Woman Deserves a Beautiful Life

c. Natalia Caruso

Sister Salons is enabling women in Guatemala to tackle domestic violence and poverty.

Spearheaded by MADRE and Nonna Pekarev, the founder and owner of La Belle Vie Salon in Montclair, New Jersey, Sister Salons combines job training in hair styling with domestic violence counseling.

It provides essential income-generating opportunities for women and a safe space for women who face violence to seek counseling.

Your support of Sister Salons will help pay for weekly job trainings and hair-dresser kits, domestic violence counseling, and the construction of a modest hair salon and teaching space. Women who complete a year of weekly trainings will receive a hair stylist’s certificate and assistance with job placement.

On behalf of MADRE, Nonna Pekarev and the women of Guatemala, please support this dream -- because every woman deserves a beautiful life.
