Save Lives in the Philippines
“It is beyond imagination.”
That’s what I just heard from Grace, our partner in the Philippines, about the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan. Millions are hurt, homeless and urgently seeking help after one of the strongest typhoons in recorded history.
I promised her that MADRE would help. You can make the difference for people who have lost everything. Will you join us?
UPDATE (November 18, 2013)
People who have been devastated by the storm are still in desperate need of food, water, shelter and other emergency aid. You can help MADRE respond. Please give today.
Already, we’ve delivered emergency aid to women and families from small communities off the radar of the large relief operations. For many of these off-the-grid communities, MADRE aid is the only they will receive.
Your donation will save lives. But we must act quickly. There’s not enough food, shelter and clean water. People are still in terrible danger from hunger and waterborne diseases.
- $15 will provide tarps and other emergency shelter supplies.
- $35 will provide one week of food for a family.
- $50 will provide a water purification kit for five families.
- $100 will buy health kits for three families with soap, towels and feminine hygiene supplies.
- $200 will provide eight families with household essentials like blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets and cooking supplies.
- $400 will give temporary shelter to two families.
I know I can always count on you as a MADRE member to come through for those most in need. Today, we need your immediate help to provide shelter, food and other emergency aid to desperate mothers and families in the disaster-ravaged Philippines. Our on-the-ground partners stand ready to deliver your emergency support to devastated communities. Your gift today will make all the difference.
You and I both know that we can’t turn a typhoon from its path of destruction. But we can make sure that we respond effectively when it strikes, directing urgent aid to the people who need it most.
Please let me count on you.
P.S. People who were most vulnerable before this crisis -- women in impoverished communities -- are in danger of falling through the cracks of large relief efforts. Through MADRE’s local grassroots partners, you can make sure that your help reaches women and families in the greatest need. Please give today.
