MADRE has some exciting news to share! Our Haitian sister organization KOFAVIV was recently invited by the Haitian Women’s Ministry to provide input on new legislation to address and prevent violence against women. KOFAVIV will be part of a working group, comprised of United Nations agencies and other international organizations, which will work to ensure that the bill effectively protects Haitian women from violence. In partnership with KOFAVIV, MADRE is also making recommendations to the bill.
This new bill represents a great opportunity for Haitian women. MADRE and KOFAVIV have been hard at work to push for women’s representation in reconstruction and policy creation. By participating in this working group, Haitian women will be given the chance to make their voices heard.
