Hilda Diaz

Hilda Diaz has been a member of the MADRE Board since 1998. Born in Cuba, her parents sent her to Miami in 1961 at the age of 14 as part of Operation Peter Pan. Having worked on Wall Street as an accountant, she joined Marazul Tours, Inc. in 1981 and became its President in 1985. Over the years, Marazul became the largest travel service provider for individuals and groups to Cuba - sending more than 300,000 people. Marazul has reflected Hilda's commitment to improving relations between the peoples of our two countries and her belief that the people in Cuba must be allowed to determine their own future without interference from the U.S. government. Hilda has also traveled with MADRE delegations to Nicaragua and Guatemala and believes strongly in the importance of empowering women and helping them achieve essential healthcare and education for themselves and their children.
